A vibrant hand-painted Talavera pottery vase by José Mata, Mexico, dating to around the 1970s. The piece features striking yellow sunflowers with terracotta centres and green foliage, set against a deep cobalt-blue glaze.
Made in the traditional Talavera style of central Mexico, known for its hand-thrown terracotta body and richly coloured tin-glazed surface. Each piece was individually decorated, giving slight variations in brushwork and tone.
Signed to the base “José Ma., Mex.” In good vintage condition with minor surface wear and a few small glaze nicks consistent with age.
